Monster Boogers Anyone???

Oh my, I have been having SO much fun making {and eating} MONSTER BOOGERS! {Many thanks to Brooke from the Parcel & Paper blog for this idea.}

Our church Trunk or Treat Party is tonight & I'm excited to surprise the kids with this unexpected treat.

Brooke sells "Zombie Booger" bags {CLICK HERE to buy}, but I stumbled onto this idea late & didn't have time to order them, so I made my own. I found the bags {3x1.75x9} at a local store called Orson Gygi {aka Heaven}. They were only $2.50 for a set of 100.
After putting the words on PicMonkey, I inserted them as a photo onto a word document & ran the bags through my computer printer. The design started out more complicated, but I found that my printer struggled, so I simplified to just the words. Here's the photo below. You could probably save it onto your computer & try it on your own bags:
And here's Brooke's recipe. PS - they're delicious!

"Zombie Boogers" Green Candy Coated Popcorn
from Brooke at Paper & Parcel blog

Mixture:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoon green food coloring
1 teaspoon baking soda
{I doubled the recipe above!}

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (95 degrees C).

Place your popcorn in two large shallow baking dishes.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to boil while stirring consistently.  Boil without stirring for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and green food coloring until the mixture is evenly colored and combined. Stir in baking soda. Mixture will double. Pour the mixture over the popcorn and stir to combine and evenly coat.

Place the popcorn in the oven. Stir the popcorn every 15 minutes for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven. Let cool for about 5 minutes and then break into pieces. Be careful popcorn will still be hot.

And here are some Trunk or Treat pics - the costumes were awesome!

I adored the "Duck Dynasty family! {Hunny & I are the Vikings.}
