There's a virus spreading like wildfire -
it's DOWNTONABBEYITIS!
Have you been infected?
I admit it - I have.
Since I'm the only female in the house
{& my guys couldn't care less}
I invited some girlfriends over
to watch a recent episode with me.
Of course, we enjoyed some
English-inspired refreshments.
I tried my hand at making some English scones
& {instead of cucumber sandwiches}
cucumber punch - which is my favorite!
Here's the recipe . . .
Cucumber Punch
- 2 liters of lemon-lime soda {I use diet}
- 12 oz. frozen limeade concentrate {undiluted}
- 3 drops almond extract
- 1 cucumber, peeled
- maraschino cherries, drained
- lots of crushed ice

Are you an "Abbey Addict"?
If so, who's your favorite character?
The cucumber punch sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI have Downton Abbey on my list of shows to watch...just haven't gotten to it yet.
Good to hear from you, Valerie. Let me know how you like it if you watch. There is something "icky" you have to get through in the very first episode.

I am an Abbey Addict!! Just ordered the Downton Abbey Cookbook from my local library - can't wait to see what is there. I just love the show! Really love all of the characters but always laugh at Maggie Smith's character. Season 3 comes out on DVD on the 29th - can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHello Blog Friend, Thank you for stopping by & leaving a comment. So glad to find out you're a fellow addict. I also love "Granny" & USUALLY agree with her - except when she thought Sir Antony should leave Edith at the altar! WHAT?! BTW, I stopped by your blog. I wish you well in your recovery.

Oh - this is awesome! Love Downton Abbey and I think I've turned my 13 year old daughter on to it too, finally! Maybe we'll have a mom/daughter part for the next episode.... Found you via Tutorials & Tips.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to meet a fellow Abby addict. Thanks for stopping by & leaving a comment!

ReplyDeleteHello Cute Angie {I'm such a fan of your blog!}, Always fun to know of another fan of "D.A.". Let me know if you try the punch.

Love Downton Abbey. I didn't like Mary at first, but she has grown on me. Their love story has been so much fun to follow. Cucumber punch - that is a new one for me to hear about. Maybe I will try it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by Dawn. I think Matthew has brought out the best in Mary. I'm also loving their story! I have a confession to make - I bought the DVD at Costco & have finished watching all of season 3! WHAT?! I'm obsessive that way about chocolate too!

PS - You have some crazy surprises waiting for you on D.A.!
I am definitely an Abby Addict as well! I love most period dramas. And I love anything with cucumbers so that punch looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteHi Sonya, Thanks so much for your comment. I also heart almost every period drama! If you like cucumbers, you'll love the punch. Thanks for popping by.

Michelle, it was so great to meet you tonight. I love your blog. I am more than slightly addicted to Downton. I had never watched an episode until the end of January and I watched all 3 seasons in 3 days. Thankfully I have an understanding husband who just rolled with it so I could finish them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Cora and I love Anna. I love them all but they're my favorites.
