One of the best things about book club,
is reading books that I ordinarily would not have even noticed!
This month's selection was a perfect example.
Even though none of us are coffee drinkers, we enjoyed
How Starbucks Saved My Life by Michael Gates Gill -
a light read about a man who learns from his mistakes
& finds happiness at the age of 64.
My dear friend & "Hostess with the Mostess",
Gerri, hosted in her home.
{Sorry the pictures are a little blurry - it was nightime!}

She whipped up some Strawberry Frappucchinos
& even served them in Starbucks cups!
Clever & cute.

As usual, we also enjoyed lots of other great food . . .
Oh yeah, AND we had fun discussing the book.
Gerri has a beautiful kitchen, so I took a couple photos
to share with you . . .
Gerri's Strawberry Frappuccino Recipe
Gerri tip: "Use crushed ice in place of ice cubes because it blends much better! It's very close, if not exactly like, Starbucks."
{This serves 2-3}
1/2 cup half-and-half cream
1/2 cup milk {preferably whole}
1 cup ripe, sweet strawberries, stemmed and washed
1/2 cup lowfat vanilla-flavored yogurt
2 cups ice cubes {crushed}
{Gerri says: "I added about one teaspoon of agave to sweeten. Can sweeten to taste - if you want it as sweet as Starbuck's version, you'll want to add more."}
Pour cream and milk into blender. Then add strawberries, yogurt and ice. Blend on high until mixture is very smooth and no fruit or ice pieces remain. Top with canned whipping cream. Pour and serve right away.
Thank you, Gerri, for a wonderful evening!
What a nice post! Looks like a great group. My book clubs have enriched my life in so many ways. And we always have good food, too! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Erin. I'm impressed that you can handle more than one book club at a time! I can barely manage to read one book a month! Thanks for stopping by.

Sounds like fun and looks so delish. I might just have to make a Strawberry Frappucino now :)
