My Latest Project is Coming Along

When our dear
I inherited her beautiful
gold frames.
(She was an amateur artist & all these
extra frames were just sitting in her garage!)

Ever since, I've had a vision
of what I wanted to do with Mom's frames.
First, I painted a wall in our
home office with chalkboard paint.
(I got this idea from my blog friend, Janell

I LOVE this Benjamin Moore chalkboard paint. It is a little pricey,
but, I only needed a quart (about $15).  I only had to paint 2 coats &
I didn't use a primer. This lint-free roller
gave me the cleanest, smoothest surface I've ever painted.

I painted the edges first, then filled in with
a roller. The painting part only took one afternoon.
The hardest part is the waiting time before you can draw on
your painted surface. The label says wait 3 DAYS!! WHAT!?!

Several sources have said that you need to prep the surface
by covering it with chalk first.
(Otherwise, the first thing you write will stay.)
Here I am covering the chalkboard wall with the
side of a piece of chalk, then rubbing
the chalk in with a clean rag.

Now I'm ready to hang Mom's frames.
I'll show you the finished project
in my next post!

  2. What a wonderful idea! I did that a couple of weeks ago with some wooden boxes and also a vintage food tray! I know the hardest part is to wait! I did mine with a spray can and had to wait 24 hrs, but 3 days??? that's totally insane! I am itching to come back and see your wall and your beautiful frames! Have a nice weekend!
