Got Southern Comfort? Aunt Evalee's Banana Bread

My Aunt Evalee is an amazing Southern cook.

Everything she makes just tastes so good-- that's probably because she puts bacon grease love in every bite!

Here's her wonderful Banana Bread recipe . . .

Banana Bread
michellelunt.com

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 4 or 5 ripe bananas
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
First of all, don't even THINK about making this unless your bananas are really ripe! Cream sugar, eggs, & butter. Mash bananas with a fork & add to mixture.  Mix in salt, flour, & baking soda. Hand stir in chocolate chips and/or nuts.  (Note: I often put the walnuts on top because it's pretty & I have picky children who can take them off!) Bake at 350 degrees until REALLY brown for approximately 55 minutes.  (Time depends on loaf pan size, but fork in the center should come out clean.)

Enjoy!

  2. Mmmmmm.I could just smell them. And nothing spells love like bacon grease.

but I don't think I'll attempt any baking for awhile....due to my disastorous results of baking which I put on my last post.
