Halloween & Christmas
are such big, fun holidays
that it seems
Thanksgiving often gets
crowded out.
Not at our house!
Thanksgiving is hubby's
FAVORITE HOLIDAY--
probably because it's so
uncomplicated & peaceful.
So-o-o, no matter the temptation,
I make a sincere effort every
year to hold back the Christmas decor
for the simplicity & gratitude
Thanksgiving evokes.
If you've read my blog before, you may recall
So, I just erased & changed over to
a message appropriate for Thanksgiving!
(This time I used a chalkboard marker.
Even though it's harder to erase, I loved using it!)

Some of the garland pieces are the same ones
used on the Halloween mantle, but I added
pine sprigs, glitter pine cones, & white lights.
(This is what it looks like at night.)
I checked today, & Costco still has these wonderful
battery-operated wax candles
with timers.
I LOVE them!
And a set of 4 is only about $20--
plus they are on coupon ($4 off)!
HURRY!
Another area I love to decorate is
my entry way chest
& mirror.
I used some gold letters
from Restoration Hardware
in the garland
to spell our family name.
More Thanksgiving fun to come!
Beautiful! I love all of it.
ReplyDeleteI love the chalkboard idea....and everything else is just lovely.

ReplyDeleteYour mantel is beautiful, Michelle! You have encouraged me to spend a little time today creating a Thanksgiving vignette in my entry - I was going to be a slacker until it was time to pull out the Christmas decor! I've never heard of chalk markers - I'm definitely going to check them out. Thanks for the tip :)
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving decor is beautiful! I really love what you did with your entry mirror. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm a little superficial but I like Christmas better because of the gifts.
