Farewell to Summer

One thing I love
about the place where I live . . .
we have
SEASONS!

Fall is really in the air.
Leaves are changing &
we are scurrying around
trying to get our outdoor projects done
before the snow starts flying.

I made soup yesterday
& it sure tasted good!

One disadvantage to summer fading away . . .
putting my bike away.

I heart my bike!

(Photos for this post by Jackie Kinahan)
This great poem describes how I feel:

WITH lifted feet, hands still,
I am poised, and down the hill
Dart, with heedful mind;
The air goes by in a wind.

Swifter and yet more swift,
Till the heart with a mighty lift
Makes the lungs laugh, the throat cry:--
'O bird, see; see, bird, I fly.'

(Going down Hill on a Bicycle, A Boy's Song)
By Henry Charles Beeching

I enjoy riding here there & everywhere around my city.

Farewell to Summer & my bike until next year.

PS - Cute Kristie at The Decorologist (LOVE her blog by the way) asked where I got my bike. The brand is "Nirve" & I got it at a local sporting goods store. If you go to their web site (click here) they have a dealer locator button.

  1. Oh my goodness, I LOVE your bike!!! I've been wanting a retro-type bicycle for awhile now, but the ones I've seen are so expensive. Where did you find yours?

  2. Wow I love those pics of you and your bike. They are PURE JOY. Made a few inspired by you "record" bracelets yesterday. They are so cute I may just leave them uncovered. I also made some rings! Thanks for the great idea! And as my grandpa would say, "Pedal her easy..." jules

  13. Hi Michelle - I love your blog and your blog and photo tips and very helpful advice (told with humor, creativity and knowledge). I will be a follower - as soon as I finish commenting.

I've only been getting a bit more serious about blogging - so I am a far cry from having 500 plus followers. That's a goal I have for next year - to be where you are. I love the way you combine the craft side of your blog...with interior design and also blog and photo tips. I have a similar talent set - but I haven't really zeroed in on the "craft" and tutorial side yet. I am a color obsessed person - and so I want that to be one of the main parts of my blog as well. I guess it's fine to be several things.

I love your bike! I think that I will be asking for that this Mother's Day. The photos in this post were beautiful - and I just love how this post helps the reader to get to know know the writer.

Thanks for your blogging tips. I am copying them down - and implementing them. Great ideas for keeping the reader there.

    Linda

  14. I've always been a big fan of fall. Not too hot but not too cold. Prefect weather.
