Girl's Camp Craft

I am a youth leader in my church and

We just returned from Girl's Camp!

This is a special time to get
smelly and dirty spiritually uplifted and have lots of fun!
The thunder, lightening, rain, hail, heat, & cold
did not thwart our wonderful experience.
We were taught to
"Be Strong & of Good Courage"
(Joshua 1:9).

Just look at all these beautiful girls & leaders
(but please don't notice me--I would have died an old maid
in the days before make-up, hair dryers & curling irons!)

(Camp photos by Jackie Kinahan)

Along with hiking, riding the zip line & lots of other great stuff,
we did some fun crafts.

After seeing Janeal McOmie demonstrate how to make
WASHER NECKLACES
on TV, I knew our girls would love them.
(Please see video at the end of the post for a demonstration.)

Below is cute Jamie (all cleaned up after camp)
sporting the necklace she made.

Here's the video, but first a couple of tips--
  • We absolutely LOVED the paper we used from Michael's Crafts. It's a brand called "Specialty Collection" and it says "Wildflowers" on the 12x12 package of 10 sheets. We liked this paper because it has metallic silver, and glittery leaves throughout.
  • We recommend something THINNER and more flexible than the suede that Janeal uses for the string. We had a hard time using the suede product.
  • You can make bracelets instead of necklaces if you'd like.
  • BROOKE IS WEARING ONE OF MY SWEATER FLOWERS IN THIS TV APPEARANCE!!
